Pattern Testers
Are you interested in being a pattern tester? Here at Manderley Makes, I have plans to keep writing more and more patterns and I need your help! Keep reading for all the details, and if you would like to apply, please fill out the form below.
So what is a pattern tester anyway?
A pattern tester gets a first look at an upcoming pattern to be released and gives it a test drive, so to speak. The pattern tester will make a quilt following the pattern instructions, looking for any mistakes in the pattern with a careful eye. The tester will provide feedback to help make the pattern accurate and easy to follow. Pattern testing can be a great way to learn new techniques, have a hand in improving products, and meeting new quilty friends!
What is expected of me?
If you are chosen to be a pattern tester, your commitment to completing the project and providing feedback is expected to the best of your ability. Typically, you will be given a four to six week window for testing. During this time, you will make the project, providing feedback along the way if you run into questions or issues. This could include things like cutting or measurement errors, steps or diagrams that are confusing, and spelling or grammatical mistakes. It is also appreciated if you will share your progress via social media (particularly Instagram) with well-lit photos to help promote the pattern launch. Any patterns provided to you for testing are intended for your personal use only and should not be copied or distributed.
What should I expect from Manderley Makes?
When a pattern testing opportunity arises, I will reach out with details about the upcoming project. I will let you know about the upcoming quilt and the expected timeline for launch. Just because I reach out does not mean you are obligated to work on that particular project, but if it is one that interests you, you should respond as quickly as possible, as I will only need about five to seven testers for each pattern and spots fill quickly. Once the group of testers is finalized, I will send a draft of the pattern (PDF) to testers and the fun begins! I will be in contact via email and/or Instagram DM and will be around to help with questions as they arise. When the pattern is finalized and released, testers will receive a final PDF copy.
